Your personal year in numerology: what will your year feel like?
A two-minute calculation using your birth day and month is enough to find the number that colours your year. Method, example and the meaning of the nine years of the cycle.
A nine-year cycle
In numerology, life moves in nine-year cycles. Each year of the cycle carries a number from 1 to 9 that sets its tone: sowing, waiting, harvesting, clearing out... This number is called your personal year. Unlike your life path, which stays the same all your life, it changes every year.
The calculation, step by step
Add the day and month of your birth to the year you are interested in, digit by digit, then reduce until you get a single digit.
Example for someone born on 14 March, for 2027:
- day: 1 + 4 = 5;
- month: 3;
- year: 2 + 0 + 2 + 7 = 11;
- total: 5 + 3 + 11 = 19, then 1 + 9 = 10, then 1 + 0 = 1.
So this person enters a personal year 1 in 2027. The year 2026 gave 5 + 3 + 10 = 18, that is 1 + 8 = 9: the end of a cycle, naturally followed by a fresh start.
Depending on the school, the personal year begins on 1 January or on your birthday. Notice which convention speaks to you most: many people feel the shift gradually, somewhere between the two dates.
The nine years of the cycle
- Year 1 — momentum: a fresh start, initiatives, the urge to take a chance. Time to sow.
- Year 2 — patience: relationships, cooperation, things that ripen slowly.
- Year 3 — expression: creativity, conversation, social life, a certain lightness.
- Year 4 — building: work, organisation, solid foundations, sometimes a little heaviness.
- Year 5 — change: movement, new encounters, the unexpected, a need for freedom.
- Year 6 — responsibility: home, family, commitments, harmony to protect.
- Year 7 — reflection: stepping back, study, inner life, the need to understand.
- Year 8 — achievement: ambition, results, material matters, recognition for work done.
- Year 9 — taking stock: the end of a cycle, clearing out, goodbyes, preparing for what comes next.
How to use it
Your personal year doesn't predict specific events: it suggests a climate. It can help you pick the right moment to launch a project (ideally in a 1), consolidate (in a 4) or clear out (in a 9). It is never a reason to make an important decision, financial or medical, based on a number alone.
A good habit: look back over your last nine years in the light of their numbers. Many people recognise, with hindsight, periods of beginning, building or closing.
Going further
Your personal year reads even better alongside your life path and the numbers of your name. You can get your full study in the numerology section, or talk it through with one of our psychics who work with numbers.
