The Petit Lenormand takes its name from Marie-Anne Lenormand, a French cartomancer of the 19th century. Unlike tarot, it does not look for symbolic depth: it describes facts, people, objects, timings. Where tarot asks "what does this mean to you?", Lenormand answers "here is what is happening".

That is what makes it valuable for practical questions: paperwork, a move, the attitude of someone close, the timeline of a project.

Lenormand is never read card by card. Two cards side by side form an expression: the first qualifies, the second states the field.

• Letter + Heart: an affectionate message.
• Heart + Letter: a feeling put in writing.
• Mountain + Crossroads: a blocked choice.
• Crossroads + Mountain: a decision that creates an obstacle.

Order matters as much as the pair itself. This grammar is what makes the oracle precise.

Start with three cards

A line of three is the best starting exercise: the middle card carries the subject, the outer ones qualify it. You read from left to right, like a sentence, without hunting for hidden symbolism.
